EUPHEUS M8 and EUPHEUS V: frequently asked questions about the RF microneedling system

The EUPHEUS M8 and the EUPHEUS V are SIACSKIN's two RF microneedling systems. Both deliver radiofrequency into the skin via fine, gold-plated needles, but differ in features and focus: the EUPHEUS M8 works in bipolar mode at 4 MHz with a Cold Hammer, the EUPHEUS V with vacuum.

Here we answer the questions asked before buying: needle depth, power, needle heads and tips, vacuum levels, dual and triple pulse, applications, replacement needles, instalment, training and warranty. By the end you will know which model fits your studio or your practice.

What is the difference between the EUPHEUS M8 and the EUPHEUS V?

The EUPHEUS M8 is the system with bipolar radiofrequency, great needle depth and Cold Hammer; the EUPHEUS V is the system with vacuum. The data sheet for the EUPHEUS M8 lists 4 MHz, 10 to 400 W of power, a needle depth of up to 7 mm and heads with 12, 24 and 40 pins as well as a nano head. It additionally lists hyperhidrosis of the underarms as an application. The EUPHEUS V draws in the skin at 6 levels, delivers the energy as a dual or triple pulse and uses tips with 25 and 49 pins as well as a non-invasive tip with 49 pins. What the two have in common is the needle depth in 0.1 mm increments, gold-plated needles, treatment without needles and instalments from approx. €270/month.

What does bipolar radiofrequency at 4 MHz mean on the EUPHEUS M8?

Bipolar means that the current flows between the needles of the cartridge and not right through the body to a return electrode. As a result, the heat is generated in the tissue around the needle tips, tightly confined and readily predictable. The 4 MHz is the frequency of the alternating current, that is, four million oscillations per second. At such high frequencies, nerves and muscles no longer respond to the current. The tissue heats up solely through its electrical resistance. For treatment with the EUPHEUS M8 this means: the thermal points sit where you place the needles. You control the depth via the needle length and the intensity via the power of 10 to 400 W.

Why does the needle depth of the EUPHEUS M8 go up to 7 mm and what are the 0.1 mm increments for?

The 7 mm is a reserve for the body; the 0.1 mm increments provide precision on the face. Facial skin varies in thickness depending on the area: thin on the forehead and around the eyes, thicker on the cheeks. Just a few tenths of a millimetre decide whether the heat ends up in the dermis or beneath it in the fatty tissue. On the body the target structures lie deeper, for instance the connective tissue of the abdomen and thighs or the sweat glands of the underarm. With its setting range of up to 7 mm, the EUPHEUS M8 covers both. The EUPHEUS V also regulates the needle depth in 0.1 mm increments. The fine gradation is also practical from session to session: you go deeper in a controlled manner if the skin tolerated the first appointment well.

What power does the EUPHEUS M8 have and what effect does the setting have?

The EUPHEUS M8 can be adjusted from 10 to 400 W. Together with the pulse duration, the power determines how much heat is generated at each needle tip. Low values produce small, mild thermal points, suitable for thin skin, first sessions and sensitive clients. Higher values produce larger thermal zones and a stronger stimulus for new collagen, which is called for with thick skin, scars and on the body. More is not automatically better here. Too much energy at a shallow depth increases the risk of pigment spots and prolongs redness. The wide range gives you scope to begin cautiously and work your way up according to the skin's response. You learn the starting values for each area in the SIACSKIN training.

Which needle heads does the EUPHEUS M8 have and which suits which area?

The EUPHEUS M8 has gold-plated heads with 12, 24 and 40 pins as well as a nano head. The number of pins determines the area covered by one stamp. The 12-pin head is the specialist for small areas: nose, eye area, upper lip and individual scars. With 24 pins you work on the forehead, chin and neck, and with 40 pins swiftly on the cheeks and large areas of the body. The rule is: the more pins, the faster the session; the fewer, the more precise the placement. Therefore choose the head according to the area that is the focus of the treatment. The gold plating ensures good conductivity and skin tolerability. In addition, the EUPHEUS M8 can also be used without needles, as a pure RF treatment.

What does the Cold Hammer on the EUPHEUS M8 do?

The Cold Hammer cools the skin immediately after RF microneedling. The radiofrequency leaves heat in the tissue; the skin is reddened, warm and slightly swollen. The cooled handpiece is passed over the treated area and draws the heat from the surface. This relieves the burning sensation, subdues redness and swelling and ensures that clients leave the treatment room feeling comfortable. On the EUPHEUS M8 the Cold Hammer is part of the system, so you do not need a second device for post-treatment cooling. Those who want to cool during treatment as well add the KYROMASTER: it works with cold air down to minus 50 °C for pre-cooling, parallel cooling and post-treatment cooling and is suitable for RF microneedling.

Why does the EUPHEUS V have six vacuum levels?

The six levels adapt the suction to the thickness and mobility of the skin. The vacuum draws the skin into the tip and holds it firmly while the needles penetrate. In this way all the needles reach the same depth instead of pushing the skin ahead of them. Thin facial skin needs only a little negative pressure for this; too much would encourage bruising. Soft, thick skin on the abdomen, upper arms or thighs needs more so that it sits securely in the tip. With the EUPHEUS V you select the level for each area and client. A side effect that many appreciate: the suction masks the needle insertion, and the treatment is perceived as less sharp. This helps with sensitive clients and on areas such as the neck.

What do dual pulse and triple pulse mean on the EUPHEUS V?

Dual pulse and triple pulse mean that the radiofrequency is delivered in two or three short sub-pulses per insertion instead of a single one. With multiple pulses, the tissue at the needle tips heats up in stages. The heat is distributed more evenly, and temperature peaks directly at the needle are lower. This allows more heat to be delivered at depth without the treatment being perceived as correspondingly sharper. Both pulse types are available on the EUPHEUS V. As a general rule, thick body skin tolerates more heat than thin facial skin, and scars or stretch marks need a stronger stimulus than a top-up. The protocols in the induction training show you which pulse type suits which area and needle depth.

Which tips are available for the EUPHEUS V and what does the non-invasive tip do?

For the EUPHEUS V there are invasive tips with 25 and 49 pins and a non-invasive tip with 49 pins. The invasive tips carry gold-plated, insulated needles. Insulated means: the shaft is coated, only the point emits energy, and the epidermis is spared. The 25-pin tip fits smaller areas; the 49-pin tip covers cheeks and body areas more quickly. The non-invasive tip does not penetrate the skin. It delivers the radiofrequency via the skin surface; SIACSKIN calls this needle-free RF tightening. The effect is milder than with needles, but there is hardly any downtime for the skin. This suits clients who are wary of needles and serves as a top-up between two courses of microneedling.

Which treatments can I offer with the EUPHEUS M8 and the EUPHEUS V?

With the EUPHEUS M8 and the EUPHEUS V you offer skin tightening, wrinkle treatment, pore refinement, the treatment of acne scars, surgical scars and stretch marks, and body tightening. These are the applications SIACSKIN lists for both systems. In addition, both offer RF treatment without needles as a gentle variant. The EUPHEUS M8 furthermore lists hyperhidrosis of the underarms, in other words excessive sweating, as an application. For planning your range of services this means: one device supports facial and body treatments, anti-ageing and scars. Courses of 3 to 4 sessions at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks are customary, and rather more for scars and stretch marks. These can be bundled into packages that are easy to plan.

Where can I get replacement needles for the EUPHEUS M8 and how do I plan consumption?

Replacement needles for the EUPHEUS M8 are available directly from the SIACSKIN shop, in a set of 5. Needle cartridges are consumables: a fresh cartridge is used for every client. So reckon on one cartridge per treatment and keep a stock for at least 2 to 3 weeks so that no appointment falls through for lack of materials. The cost per cartridge should be firmly built into your treatment price. At SIACSKIN, spare parts and consumables are generally available within a few days, by express delivery if required. If you sell courses of treatment, you know the requirement for the coming weeks and reorder accordingly instead of stocking up on spec.

How much do the EUPHEUS M8 and EUPHEUS V cost per month?

Both devices are available from approx. €270/month. As a guide, leasing costs around 1% of the net price per month, calculated over a term of 60 months, plus VAT and subject to creditworthiness. The current net price is shown on the respective product page. In addition to the instalment there are the needle cartridges as consumables, which you cost per treatment. Purchase, financing, leasing or hire purchase through SIACSKIN's principal bank are possible, without a deposit on request and also for business start-ups. After your non-binding enquiry, SIACSKIN will get in touch within 24 hours. The EUPHEUS M8 and the EUPHEUS V are thus among the devices that make entry into skin rejuvenation comparatively easy.

EUPHEUS M8 or EUPHEUS V: which model suits which studio or practice?

The EUPHEUS M8 fits if you want the broadest possible spectrum with plenty of depth; the EUPHEUS V fits if comfort and soft body areas are the focus. With a needle depth of up to 7 mm, 10 to 400 W and the hyperhidrosis application, the EUPHEUS M8 is the device for practices and studios that want to cover scars, tightening and underarm treatment. The Cold Hammer takes care of post-treatment cooling. The EUPHEUS V shows its strength where skin is soft and mobile: neck, abdomen, upper arms, thighs. The vacuum fixes the skin in place and makes the needle insertion more comfortable, which counts with sensitive clients. The instalment starts at the same level for both, so decide according to your treatment focus.

Where are the EUPHEUS M8 and EUPHEUS V built and what warranty applies?

According to SIACSKIN, both devices are developed and built in Germany, and both come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. On top of that there is lifetime support. Regular maintenance is offered, and spare parts and consumables are generally available within a few days. Installation is carried out free of charge by SIACSKIN technicians. For you as the operator this means: manufacturer, service and supplies come from a single source. With a system that works with needle cartridges, this matters more than with other devices, because without cartridges treatment comes to a standstill. If a defect occurs on the EUPHEUS M8 or the EUPHEUS V, it is repaired or replaced under the statutory liability for defects and the warranty.
