Tattoo, PMU and pigment removal: which laser for which application?

The three PICOLO systems cover everything from entry-level permanent makeup removal and carbon peeling to professional tattoo removal with picosecond technology. The key difference is pulse duration: picosecond lasers break color pigments into finer particles than nanosecond Q-switch lasers. The background is explained in the article Picosecond laser or Q-switch laser.

How to make the right choice

  • Your focus: If you mainly want to correct PMU and offer carbon peels, the PICOLO S is often enough. For regular tattoo removal, the PICOLO L or XL is worth it.
  • Colors: Colorful tattoos need multiple wavelengths. This is where the PICOLO XL plays to its strengths.
  • Additional revenue: Carbon peeling and pigment treatments run on the same device, see Carbon peeling with the laser and Pigment spots and melasma.
  • Financing: How leasing works for a picosecond laser is explained in the article Leasing or financing a picosecond laser.

Procedure, sessions and aftercare for your clients can be found in the guide Laser tattoo removal. Who is allowed to remove tattoos? The requirements depend on your qualification – please clarify them case by case before purchase; we are happy to advise you on the devices.

Frequently asked questions

What is better for tattoo removal: picosecond or Q-switch?

Picosecond lasers work with shorter pulses and break pigments down more finely, which helps especially with colorful and stubborn tattoos. Q-switch lasers are proven and more affordable to start with, for example for PMU and dark tattoos.

Can I also offer carbon peeling with the PICOLO S?

Yes. The PICOLO S is designed for PMU removal, carbon peeling, pigment spots and small tattoos.

How much does a tattoo removal laser cost per month?

As an example for leasing (net, 60 months): PICOLO S from approx. €130, PICOLO L from approx. €690, PICOLO XL from approx. €1,000 per month. We will calculate your exact rate in the quote.

Is training on the device available?

Yes. Onboarding and training through the SIAC Akademie are included with every SIACSKIN device.

All rates net, example calculation based on a 60-month term, subject to credit check. As of October 2026.
