Technology and Mode of Action

The AlexDUAL UFO works on the principle of selective photothermolysis: the laser light is absorbed specifically by melanin in the hair shaft and hair root, or by pigment and haemoglobin, converted into heat and damages the target structure while sparing the surrounding tissue.

The 755 nm alexandrite wavelength is absorbed particularly strongly by melanin. That makes it ideal for fair skin types, for finer and lighter hair and for superficial pigment changes. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates deeper into the tissue and is absorbed less strongly by melanin. This makes it suitable for dark skin types, deep-seated follicles, vessels and for a heating effect in deeper skin layers that supports skin tightening.

At its heart is the premium alexandrite crystal Alexite™ for stable beam quality. The square laser spot of 10 to 40 mm allows seamless work without overlapping passes – up to 50 % faster than comparable systems. Pulse duration is adjustable from 0.3 to 100 ms. The SIA-KI analyses skin type and treatment area via cameras in the handpiece and sets energy, pulse duration and frequency automatically – reducing setting errors, shortening the training time for new staff and making every treatment reproducible.
