Motus AX Alternative: AlexDUAL UFO Alexandrite and Nd:YAG Laser

“Buy Motus AX” or a Motus AX alternative: the Motus AX from DEKA is a 755 nm alexandrite laser that works in motion with the Moveo technique. Instead of single shots, the handpiece passes repeatedly over small, defined areas and gradually heats the hair follicles at lower fluence in skin contact. SIACSKIN offers two in-house alternatives: the AlexDUAL UFO with alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm for all skin types, from approx. €1,190 per month, and the DEWEON 4LD diode laser with four wavelengths, from approx. €470 per month.

In-motion or single shot with a large spot

DEKA describes the Moveo technique as follows: the handpiece works in contact with the skin and at lower fluence, so less energy is reflected from the skin. Through multiple passes over a small area, the hairs are gradually heated. According to DEKA, the principle is suitable not only for hair removal but also for pigmented and vascular lesions as well as skin rejuvenation; for the Motus AX, the manufacturer lists hair removal and benign pigmented lesions.

The AlexDUAL UFO works on the principle of selective photothermolysis with a square spot of 10 to 40 mm. The square shape allows gap-free work without overlapping tracks, which speeds up large areas such as legs or back. The SIA AI analyzes skin type and area via cameras in the handpiece and sets energy, pulse duration and frequency. This reduces setting errors and makes it easier for new staff to get started.

One wavelength or two

755 nm is absorbed particularly strongly by melanin and is considered very effective on fine and lighter hair. This is exactly what the Motus AX is designed for. The AlexDUAL UFO combines this alexandrite wavelength with Nd:YAG 1064 nm, which penetrates deeper and is absorbed less strongly by melanin. This lets you treat dark skin types up to Fitzpatrick VI and deep-seated follicles as well, and expand your offering with vessels, spider veins, rosacea and skin tightening. More under Alexandrite laser and Nd:YAG laser and Skin types according to Fitzpatrick.

Diode laser as an alternative to alexandrite

If your focus is hair removal and the budget is smaller, take a look at the DEWEON 4LD. It combines 755, 808, 940 and 1064 nm in one handpiece, works with 6,000 W and up to 30 Hz and cools with ice sapphire technology. The integrated AI skin analyzer detects skin and hair type, and SR technology adds skin rejuvenation with a red light diode. You can read the direct comparison of the technologies under Diode laser or alexandrite laser.

When which device fits better

  • Motus AX: if you specifically want to work with DEKA's Moveo in-motion technique and a pure alexandrite wavelength.
  • AlexDUAL UFO: if you are looking for alexandrite and Nd:YAG in one device, want to treat all skin types and, besides hair, also offer pigment, vessels and skin tightening.
  • DEWEON 4LD: if high-throughput hair removal is the focus and you want to start with a lower monthly rate.
  • Orientation: The alexandrite laser buying guide shows what matters for crystal, spot, cooling and running costs.

Which requirements apply to operating a laser should be clarified case by case. Notes on this can be found under Laser protection and safety.

Frequently asked questions

Which skin types is the AlexDUAL UFO suitable for?

For skin types I to VI. The alexandrite wavelength 755 nm is ideal for light skin and fine, lighter hair, Nd:YAG 1064 nm for dark skin types and deep-seated follicles.

What is the Moveo technique on the Motus AX?

According to DEKA, the handpiece passes repeatedly over small, defined areas and works in skin contact at lower fluence. The hairs are thereby heated gradually. Moveo HR is geared toward hair removal, Moveo PL toward pigmented lesions.

Alexandrite laser or diode laser: which is better?

That depends on the skin and hair types of your clientele and your offering. Alexandrite 755 nm is strong on fine, lighter hair; diode lasers such as the DEWEON 4LD cover many hair types with four wavelengths.

Are there running costs for shots with the AlexDUAL UFO?

No. The AlexDUAL UFO is designed for up to 100 million shots; shot quotas do not have to be repurchased.

How much does an alexandrite laser cost per month?

As an example: the AlexDUAL UFO is available on leasing from approx. €1,190 net per month for a 60-month term, subject to credit check. The DEWEON 4LD diode laser is at approx. €470 per month.
