Elite iQ Alternative: AlexDUAL UFO with Alexandrite and Nd:YAG
Anyone looking for an Elite iQ alternative usually compares two things: the combination of alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm, and the question of how the parameters are found for each skin type. Cynosure describes the Elite iQ as a versatile dual-wavelength platform with the Skintel melanin reader; the manufacturer quotes the newer Elite iQ Pro with a spot size of up to 30 mm. SIACSKIN counters with the AlexDUAL UFO: alexandrite and Nd:YAG in one system, a square spot up to 40 mm, 7,500 W and the SIA AI with cameras in the handpiece. Developed and built in Germany, on leasing from approx. €1,190 per month.

Melanin measurement or AI analysis: two ways to the right parameter
The core of every dual-wavelength treatment is the right setting for skin and hair. With the Elite iQ, Cynosure solves this with Skintel: the handheld device measures the skin's melanin content so that the practitioner does not have to choose the test spot settings by eye. This is an objective measurement that helps especially on tanned skin.
With the AlexDUAL UFO, the analysis sits directly in the workflow. The SIA AI evaluates skin type and treatment area via cameras in the handpiece and sets energy, pulse duration and frequency automatically. For you, that means fewer setting errors, shorter training time for new staff and reproducible treatments. The software receives free updates every 14 days. How AI-assisted skin analysis works in practice is covered under AI skin analysis on the laser device.
Spot, speed and cooling in daily studio use
For large areas such as legs or back, the area per shot counts. The AlexDUAL UFO works with a square spot of 10 to 40 mm. Square spots can be placed next to each other without gaps, without round tracks overlapping. This speeds up full-body treatments and makes coverage more even.
For cooling, SIACSKIN relies on a 4-fold cooling system with an in-house developed compressor. Skin cooling is integrated, and you do not need a separate cooling unit. The laser is ready for use after about 5 seconds, with no warm-up time between appointments. More on this under Skin cooling during laser treatment.
Treatment range: more than hair removal
Both systems are designed for a broad treatment menu. With the AlexDUAL UFO you cover four fields:
- Hair removal for skin types I to VI: 755 nm for light skin and fine, lighter hair, 1064 nm for darker skin types and deep-seated follicles.
- Pigment: pigment spots and age spots, freckles, seborrheic keratoses (Pigmentation spots with the laser).
- Vessels: spider veins, vascular lesions and rosacea with Nd:YAG 1064 nm (Couperose, rosacea and spider veins).
- Skin tightening and skin rejuvenation through the heat effect of 1064 nm in deeper skin layers.
The basics of both wavelengths are explained in the guide Alexandrite laser and Nd:YAG laser. How skin types are classified according to Fitzpatrick is covered under Skin types and lasers.
Which system suits whom?
- Elite iQ: if you want to work specifically with the Cynosure ecosystem and Skintel melanin measurement.
- AlexDUAL UFO: if you are looking for alexandrite and Nd:YAG directly from the manufacturer, with a large square spot, integrated cooling, AI-assisted parameter selection and no shot allowances.
- More comparisons: the alternative to Clarity II and GentleMax Pro and the alternative to the Splendor X show how other alexandrite-Nd:YAG systems compare.
- Buying criteria: What to look out for with crystal, spot, cooling and follow-up costs is summarized in the Alexandrite laser buying guide.
You should clarify case by case which requirements apply to operating a laser in your business. You will find notes under Laser protection and safety.

Frequently asked questions
Which wavelengths does the Elite iQ have?
According to Cynosure, the Elite iQ works with 755 nm (alexandrite) and 1064 nm (Nd:YAG). SIACSKIN's AlexDUAL UFO combines the same two wavelengths in one system.
What is Skintel on the Elite iQ?
Skintel is a melanin reader from Cynosure. It measures the skin's melanin content and helps to set the test spot settings for hair removal objectively. With the AlexDUAL UFO, the SIA AI with cameras in the handpiece takes over the analysis of skin type and area.
Which skin types is the AlexDUAL UFO suitable for?
For skin types I to VI. Alexandrite 755 nm is particularly suited to light skin and fine, lighter hair, Nd:YAG 1064 nm to darker skin types and deep-seated follicles.
What spot size does the AlexDUAL UFO have?
The AlexDUAL UFO works with a square spot of 10 to 40 mm. The square shape allows gap-free work without overlapping tracks.
Are there costs for shots with the AlexDUAL UFO?
No. The system is designed for up to 100 million shots, and you do not have to buy shot allowances again.
What does an alexandrite Nd:YAG laser cost per month?
As an example: the AlexDUAL UFO is available on leasing from approx. €1,190 net per month over a 60-month term, subject to credit check. No down payment is needed on request.
