Two concepts for colorful tattoos

Both devices work with 1064 nm for dark, deep-lying pigments and with 532 nm for red, orange and yellow. For blue and green tones, Candela uses two dedicated titanium-sapphire handpieces with 730 and 785 nm. According to the SIACSKIN product description, the PICOLO XL treats tattoos of all colors with 1064 nm, 532 nm and the further wavelengths; its 755 nm Honeycomb handpiece is designed mainly for skin condition and pigmentation disorders such as melasma, chloasma and age spots. How many sessions a tattoo needs depends on color, depth and age with every device. Background on this can be found under Tattoo removal with laser.

More than picosecond: Long Pulse, carbon peeling, hair removal

The PicoWay is focused on picosecond treatments, as a full beam or fractional with the Resolve handpieces. The PICOLO XL adds to the Pico mode Long Pulse for skin rejuvenation and hair removal, PTP for pigmentation disorders and pores, and Multi Pulse for carbon peeling with the 1320 nm handpiece. For your salon, that means: besides tattoo and pigment, one device can also take over treatments that would otherwise require a second system. The more treatment areas a device covers, the easier it is to keep it busy. More on carbon peeling with laser and on pigment spots and melasma.

When which device fits better

  • PicoWay: if you want to work specifically with dedicated 730 and 785 nm handpieces for blue and green and with Candela's fractional Resolve concept.
  • PICOLO XL: if you want tattoo, pigment, carbon peeling, skin rejuvenation and hair removal in one system, with AI-assisted parameters, service from Düsseldorf and financing directly from the manufacturer.
  • Smaller budget: The PICOLO L (Q-switch with Long Pulse, from approx. €690/month) is our bestseller for tattoo removal; for PMU removal and carbon peeling, the PICOLO S from approx. €130/month is often enough.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PICOLO XL a true picosecond laser?

Yes. The PICOLO XL works with a pulse duration of 280 picoseconds. The short pulse acts more photoacoustically than thermally, breaks pigments into fine particles and places particularly little stress on the surrounding tissue.

Does the PICOLO XL also remove colorful tattoos?

Yes. With 1064 nm, 532 nm and the further wavelengths, the PICOLO XL treats tattoos of all colors. The number of sessions depends on the color, depth and age of the tattoo.

Picosecond laser or Q-switch: which do I need?

A picosecond laser works with much shorter pulses than a Q-switch laser in the nanosecond range. If tattoo removal is your main focus, you benefit from the PICOLO XL; to get started, a Q-switch such as the PICOLO L can be enough. You can find the comparison in the article Picosecond laser or Q-switch.

What does a picosecond laser cost per month?

As an example: the PICOLO XL is available on leasing from approx. €1,000 net per month over 60 months, subject to credit approval. The PICOLO L is about €690, the PICOLO S about €130 per month.

How will I be trained on the PICOLO XL?

Training takes place on site by experts who work on the devices themselves. The SIAC Akademie offers advanced courses on wavelengths, skin types and safety.
