Professional Microneedling Device: Classic or RF?
Using a professional microneedling device today means choosing between two worlds: classic microneedling with a motorized pen and RF microneedling, in which the needles also deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin. A third variant is RF microneedling with vacuum. This page explains the differences, shows how to recognize a professional microneedling machine, and how to offer and price the treatment in your studio.
If you have already decided on RF microneedling and are only choosing between two devices, the buying guide for RF microneedling devices with the detailed comparison of EUPHEUS and EUPHEUS V will help you. Here the focus is on the fundamental question: which method, which criteria.
Classic, RF or vacuum RF: three methods compared
Classic microneedling works purely mechanically. A pen moves a needle cartridge up and down rapidly and creates fine micro-injuries. The effect arises solely through the body's own wound healing; active ingredients are often worked in at the same time. No energy is delivered.
RF microneedling adds radiofrequency heat to the micro-injuries, which arrives at the needles in the dermis. What matters is the design of the needles: Insulated needles deliver the energy only at the tip, sparing the skin surface. Non-insulated needles deliver energy along their entire length, including in the upper skin layers.
Vacuum RF microneedling draws the skin up against the treatment head before insertion. This allows the needles to penetrate more evenly and with less force, and the energy is placed more precisely.
| Method | Principle | Typical use | At SIACSKIN |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic microneedling (pen) | mechanical micro-injuries, no energy | skin texture, working in active ingredients | not in the range |
| RF microneedling | microneedles plus radiofrequency in the dermis | tightening, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks | EUPHEUS, insulated pure gold needles up to 7 mm |
| Vacuum RF microneedling | skin is drawn up and fixed in place, then RF via microneedles | face and body with a focus on comfort and even depth | EUPHEUS V, vacuum in 6 levels |
How RF microneedling works in the tissue and how many sessions are typical is explained in the guide RF microneedling and skin tightening. Why home devices are not comparable to professional devices can be read under RF microneedling device for home use.
What makes a professional microneedling device
- Penetration depth: Maximum depth, minimum depth and step size are important. For the eye area you need shallow depths, for scars and stretch marks on the body greater ones.
- Needle cartridges and modules: Different pin counts for small and large areas, ideally a module without insertion for gentle entry-level treatments.
- Energy and pulse modes: In RF microneedling, the adjustment range and pulse modes determine how finely you can tailor the treatment to the goal.
- Hygiene: The needle attachment is replaced for every client. Plan the single-use cartridges as a fixed item per treatment.
- Cooling: Immediate cooling after the treatment soothes the skin, for example with an integrated cooling attachment or the KYROMASTER. Background under Skin cooling during treatment.
- Safety: Monitoring functions such as impedance or temperature measurement reduce the risk of misuse.
- Documentation: Preset programs make treatments reproducible; a skin analysis such as with the Skin Analyzer Pro records the starting point and progress across multiple sessions.
EUPHEUS and EUPHEUS V: professional microneedling from SIACSKIN
SIACSKIN does not offer classic pens, but two RF microneedling devices that are developed and built in Germany. According to the product description:
The EUPHEUS delivers bipolar radiofrequency via insulated pure gold needles. You set the needle depth in 0.1 mm steps up to 7 mm and the output power from 10 to 400 W; in addition there are three pulse modes (step, burst and standard mode). Needle tips with 12, 24 and 40 needles are available, as well as a nano tip for non-invasive treatments without insertion. The Cold Hammer soothes the skin immediately after treatment; impedance measurement, temperature monitoring and leakage current protection are integrated.
The EUPHEUS V works with fractional multipolar radiofrequency (1–10 MHz, 10–120 J) and a vacuum in six levels. The needle depth ranges from 0.7 to 4.0 mm in 0.1 mm steps; the gold-plated, insulated needles are a fine 0.2 mm. With dual and triple pulse you deliver the energy per insertion at two or three depths. A stepper motor instead of a magnetic drive guides the needles in without impact. There are three tips: 25 pins invasive with vacuum, 49 pins invasive and 49 pins non-invasive.
Both devices are CE-marked under MDR and each start from approx. €270 net per month. Which one suits you better is compared in the buying guide; detailed questions are answered in EUPHEUS and EUPHEUS V: questions.
Areas of application in the studio and in the practice
According to the product descriptions, EUPHEUS and EUPHEUS V are suitable for skin tightening and lifting on the face, neck and décolletage, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and surgical scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores and body tightening on the abdomen, arms and thighs. With the EUPHEUS, treatment of hyperhidrosis in the armpits is also possible. How strong a treatment's effect is depends on the starting situation; results cannot be guaranteed. More about scars can be found under Treating acne scars and scars, and about combinations with laser and BBL under Combination treatment.
Which treatments with needles you may offer is regulated differently depending on the country. Clarify the requirements case by case before buying.
Treatment offering and pricing in the studio
A professional device pays off when you offer the treatment as a clear menu. One possible structure:
- Entry without insertion: non-invasive RF treatment with the nano tip or the non-invasive 49-pin tip, combined with active ingredients.
- Face as a course: RF microneedling for face, neck and décolletage as a package over several sessions.
- Scar program: acne scars or surgical scars with individually adjusted depth.
- Body: stretch marks and body tightening as a separate treatment line.
- Aftercare: suitable care products from the Aftercare collection as a supplement.
Example with assumptions: Assume you charge €220 net per facial session and budget €40 for the needle attachment and hygiene materials. This leaves €180 contribution margin per session. With an assumed six sessions per month, that is €1,080, from which the example rate of approx. €270 as well as space, staff and marketing are covered. You can check your own prices and volumes in the price calculator. How to build up the treatment in your studio is shown in RF microneedling in a beauty salon.
Onboarding and training through the SIAC Akademie are included, you receive a 2-year warranty, and service and spare parts come from Düsseldorf. In the showroom in Düsseldorf you can test the difference between classic insertion and vacuum yourself by appointment.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between microneedling and RF microneedling?
Classic microneedling creates only mechanical micro-injuries. With RF microneedling, the needles also deliver radiofrequency heat in the dermis. This lets you reach deeper tissue layers and tailor the energy specifically to the treatment goal.
Why are insulated needles important in RF microneedling?
Insulated needles deliver the energy only at the tip, sparing the skin surface. Non-insulated needles deliver energy along their entire length and put more strain on the upper skin layers. EUPHEUS and EUPHEUS V work with insulated, gold-plated needles.
Which microneedling device is suitable for a beauty salon?
That depends on your offering. For a professional studio, needle depth, modules for face and body, cooling, safety functions and single-use attachments are decisive. At SIACSKIN you can choose between EUPHEUS and EUPHEUS V, each from approx. €270 net per month. Which treatments with needles you may offer should be clarified in advance, case by case.
What does vacuum add to RF microneedling?
The vacuum lifts the skin and fixes it to the treatment head. The needles penetrate more evenly and with less force, and the energy is placed more precisely. According to the product description, clients find the treatment with the EUPHEUS V significantly more comfortable as a result.
Does SIACSKIN also sell classic microneedling pens?
No. SIACSKIN develops and builds RF microneedling devices: the EUPHEUS with needle depth up to 7 mm and nano tip, and the EUPHEUS V with vacuum and multiple pulses.
