Product details

Flammazine is a sterile white cream based on silver sulfadiazine, a topical antibacterial agent. The cream is used for the local treatment and prevention of infections and burns and as an adjunctive treatment for common and local skin and wound infections. Flammazine 1% cream is suitable for adults, adolescents and children over 2 months of age.

Instructions for use

The duration of treatment varies from case to case and should be based on regular assessment of the wound by a doctor. Flammazine cream should not be used for longer than 14 days without medical assessment. Flammazine can be applied in two ways:

  • Apply Flammazine directly to the wound. Apply a layer of about 2 to 3 mm to the wound and cover it with sterile gauze.
  • Apply Flammazine cream to a piece of sterile gauze and place it on the wound. In both cases you can apply a loose dressing.
  • Perfect after CO2 laser treatments

You should apply Flammazine cream once a day. Remove the old layer before applying a new one. Use a damp cloth for this or, if possible, clean the wound with a physiological solution.

Composition

Flammazine contains 1 g of silver sulfadiazine per 100 g of cream. The other ingredients of the cream are polysorbate 60 (E435), polysorbate 80 (E433), glycerol monostearate, cetyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol (E1520) and purified water.

Warnings

Do not use Flammazine cream if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine or if you are in the third trimester of pregnancy. It is also not suitable for premature babies and newborns in the first two months.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Flammazine cream can have side effects. Possible side effects include skin reactions, a burning sensation or pain at the application site and, in rare cases, a blood disorder called leukopenia.

Storage

Store Flammazine tubes at room temperature (15–25 °C) and protected from light. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
